The Lottery

The lottery is a short story by Shirley Jackson written in 1948. I bet you think that this story is about winning a lottery for money. But no, it's not. its about a tradition in a village every June. So the head of the family will choose a paper from the black box kept by Mr. Summers. The lottery is done a lot of times before. it turned out that Hutchinson's family wins the lottery. Bill's wife got the paper with a black dot and she is stoned to death.
